FEDERICO TOSIVento Forte24 July – 11 December 2021 Monica De Cardenas is delighted to announce Vento Forte, the first exhibition by young Italian artist Federico Tosi in Switzerland. The project stages, through a series of about forty terracotta sculptures, the consequences of a shocking event of unspecified nature. We perceive it as a strong wind that overwhelms everything in its path: we see it ripple the blades of grass and run into the trees until they bend. In a progression that is gentle at first, then dizzying, it shakes the daily life of citizens, their animals and the objects that surround them. It gains strength until it runs over cars, cranes and trucks. A second later an entire city is hit: buildings and skyscrapers crumble… while pizzas from restaurants fly away. The wind turns into a nightmare and the viewer wonders what triggered this disaster. With an apparently simple and direct visual language, Tosi creates an apocalyptic and at times comical vision of an event that disrupts the routine of the distracted inhabitants of the 21st century - illusorily carefree, while future catastrophes loom over their heads. In a last sculpture the artist shows us the progressive disintegration of a cat's body: first the fur, then the skin, and finally the muscles are swept away by the violent wind. Federico Tosi was born in Milan in 1988 and graduated from Brera Academy of Fine Arts in 2014. His provocative and enigmatic works, often made with unusual materials, have already caused a stir on several occasions: the carved bovine bones on display at Almanac in Turin in 2017; the two cancer cells tenderly holding hands made in resin in 2014; the carcasses of downed birds in multi-colored resin (Rotten Bullshit, 2014-16); the jaws of a shark in marble (Make New Friends #3, 2012) and the bronze sculpture of a cat with spiky hair (Untitled Cat, 2018). In 2018, Tosi presented his first solo show titled Goodbye bye bye at Monica De Cardenas gallery in Milan, imagining a journey backwards in the space-time of the universe: large drawings of galaxies made with felt-tip pens, sculptures of fossils in concrete with plausible but non-existent shapes, and the tiny figurine of an underwater swimmer, who, observing a seashell, reflects on the fractal formation of matter. Tosi's research probes into complex and dramatic aspects of our existence, ravenously looks into obscure crannies, creating fantastic and disturbing scenarios, not without a note of irony.

FEDERICO TOSIVento Forte24 luglio – 11 dicembre 2021 Siamo felici di annunciare Vento Forte, la prima mostra del giovane artista italiano Federico Tosi in Svizzera. Il progetto mette in scena, attraverso una serie di circa quaranta sculture in terracotta, le conseguenze di un evento sconvolgente di natura non precisata. Lo percepiamo come un vento che tutto travolge e investe: lo vediamo increspare i fili d’erba di un prato, per poi insinuarsi tra gli alberi fino a piegarli. In una progressione prima dolce, poi vertiginosa scuote la vita quotidiana dei cittadini, dei loro animali e degli oggetti che li circondano. Si infittisce, prende forza: travolge automobili, gru e tir. Finché un’intera città ne viene investita: palazzi e grattacieli si sgretolano, mentre le pizze dei ristoranti volano via. Il vento si trasforma in un incubo e lo spettatore si chiede cosa abbia scatenato questo disastro. Con un linguaggio visivo apparentemente semplice e diretto, Tosi crea una visione apocalittica e a tratti comica di un avvenimento che turba la routine di noi distratti abitanti del XXI secolo, illusoriamente spensierati, mentre sul nostro capo incombono future catastrofi. In un’ultima scultura l’artista ci mostra il progressivo disfacimento del corpo di un gatto: prima il pelo, poi la pelle e infine i muscoli vengono travolti e portati via da un vento violentissimo. Federico Tosi è nato a Milano nel 1988 e si è diplomato all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera nel 2014. I suoi lavori provocatori ed enigmatici, dai materiali inconsueti, hanno già fatto scalpore in diverse occasioni: le ossa bovine intagliate in mostra da Almanac a Torino nel 2017; le due cellule cancerogene che si tengono teneramente per mano realizzate in resina nel 2014; le carcasse di uccelli abbattuti in resina pluri-colorata (Rotten Bullshit, 2014-16); le fauci di uno squalo in marmo (Make New Friends #3, 2012) e la scultura in bronzo di un gatto dal pelo aculeiforme (Untitled Cat, 2018). Nel 2018 ha presentato la sua prima personale dal titolo Goodbye bye bye nella galleria De Cardenas di Milano, immaginando un viaggio a ritroso nello spazio-tempo dell’universo: grandi disegni di galassie realizzati a pennarello, sculture di fossili in cemento dalle forme plausibili ma inesistenti, e la minuta scultura di un nuotatore subacqueo, che osservando una conchiglia riflette sullo sviluppo frattale della materia. La ricerca di Tosi scandaglia aspetti complessi e drammatici dell’esistenza, osserva famelicamente ogni antro oscuro creando immaginari fantastici e inquietanti, ma non senza una nota di ironia.  FEDERICO TOSIVento Forte24 Juli – 11 Dezember 2021 Wir freuen uns, mit Vento Forte die erste Ausstellung des jungen italienischen KünstlersFederico Tosi in der Schweiz anzukündigen. Wir nehmen einen Wind wahr, der über alles hinwegfegt: Wirsehen, wie er die Grashalme einer Wiese kr uselt und dann in die B ume f hrt, bis er siebiegt. In einem zun chst sanften, dann schwindelerregenden Tempo erschüttert er dast gliche Leben der Menschen, ihrer Tiere und Gegenst nde. Er verdichtet sich, gewinnt anKraft: er wirft Autos, Kr ne und Lastwagen um. Bis eine ganze Stadt erfasst wird: Geb udeund Wolkenkratzer stürzen ein, w hrend die Pizzas aus den Restaurants wegfliegen. Der Wind verwandelt sich in einen Alptraum und der Betrachter fragt sich, was dieseKatastrophe wohl ausgel st hat. Mit einer scheinbar einfachen und direkten Bildspracheentwirft Tosi die apokalyptische und bisweilen groteske Vision eines Ereignisses, das denAlltag von uns zerstreuten, scheinbar sorglosen Bürger des 21. Jahrhunderts durcheinanderbringt. In einer letzten Skulptur zeigt uns der Künstler den fortschreitende Zerfall einesKatzenk rpers: zuerst werden die Haare, dann die Haut und schlie lich die Muskeln vondem gewaltigen Wind verzerrt und weggefegt. Federico Tosi wurde 1988 in Mailand geboren und machte 2014 seinen Abschluss an derBrera Academy of Fine Arts. Seine provokanten und r tselhaften Werke inungew hnlichen Materialien haben schon mehrfach für Aufsehen gesorgt: diegeschnitzten Rinderknochen, die 2017 bei Almanac in Turin zu sehen waren; 2014 zweiKrebszellen aus Kunstharz, die z rtlich H ndchen halten; die Kadaver von abgeschossenenV geln geformt aus buntem Kunstharz (Rotten Bullshit, 2014-16); das Maul eines Hais ausMarmor (Make New Friends #3, 2012) und die Skulptur einer Katze mit jedem einzelnenHaar aus Bronze (Untitled Cat, 2018). 2018 pr sentierte er mit dem Titel Goodbye bye bye seine erste Einzelausstellung in derGalerie Monica De Cardenas in Mailand. Hier stellte er sich eine Reise rückw rts im Raum -Zeit Kontinuum des Universums vor: gro e Bilder von Galaxien, ganz dicht mit Filzstiftgezeichnet, Betonskulpturen von Fossilien mit plausiblen, aber nicht existierendenFormen, und die winzige Plastik eines Unterwasserschwimmers, der beim Betrachten einerMuschel über die fraktale Entwicklung der Materie reflektiert. Das künstlerische Schaffen von Federico Tosi erforscht komplexe und dramatischeAspekte der Existenz, taucht erfahrungshungrig in jede dunkle H hle, formtbeunruhigende Werke, aber nicht ohne Verspieltheit und Humor.
